Episode 2.40 – When Country Wasn’t Cthulhu with John Langan

JohnLanganWelcome to the Ink Heist podcast, which is devoted to dark genre fiction, featuring hosts Rich Duncan, Shane Douglas Keene, Laurel Hightower and a whole bevy of authors and other interesting guests for your listening and enlightening pleasure. We are a very irreverent, often linguistically explicit broadcast so we highly recommend you use discretion when listening around easily influenced young ones or anyone who is easily offended. We would like to thank the band Secret Smoker for allowing us to use their song “Crushed by Air” to kick-off and finish the podcast.

This week we have a very special show for you as we welcome John Langan to the show to promote his upcoming short story collection, Children of the Fang and Other Genealogies, which hits shelves on August 18 through Worde Horde.  John’s short story collections are always must-read additions to our shelves and he explores a variety of themes and styles in all of them, with the main constant being they are full of terrifying scenarios that stick with you long after you finish reading. Throughout the course of the episode, we talked about he importance of versatility, remaining receptive to your own ideas, teaching creative writing, lives being story shaped and so much more. We had a blast chatting with John and he gives out a ton of great advice. You definitely don’t want to miss this episode!
