Today we are happy to have publicist Erin Sweet Al-Mehairi stop by with an exclusive cover reveal for Jason Parent’s upcoming release Victoria. Victoria will be released soon by the excellent indie publisher Bloodshot Books. Check out what Erin has to say about the upcoming release and the cover below!
Cover Reveal for Victoria by Jason Parent
This beautiful cover for the upcoming book Victoria, by Jason Parent, was created by artist Mikio Murakami. Isn’t it gorgeous?
It sets-up perfectly the coming of age story held in its pages, which is a standalone creation within Parent’s What Hides Within universe. Looking closely, the eye can see in the background the shadow of the larger spider from the cover of What Hides Within!
The character of Victoria and the arachnid Chester cross-over from his previous novel, but the similarities end there (besides Parent’s ability to write a good plot)! While What Hides Within is a horror novel with a mix of comedy and mystery, Victoria is a thriller with horror elements. Fans of Parent’s supernatural suspense Seeing Evil would enjoy Victoria, as well as horror, thriller, and even young adult readers.

Victoria Menard has had a hard life. She’s an orphan and a thief… and perhaps even a murderer. Worst of all, her only friend is a talking spider named Chester that lives in her head.
For the last eight years, Victoria and Chester have traveled the world, seeing the sights, learning half a dozen languages, and terrorizing communities indiscriminately. Now sixteen, Victoria wants her independence. But the parasite inside her won’t let her go.
Chester has big plans, but Victoria’s brain may no longer be big enough for the both of them. How can a girl rid herself of an unwanted guest when that guest refuses to leave?
Victoria is a stand-alone novel set in the same universe as the EPIC award finalist novel, What Hides Within.
About Jason Parent
Jason is an author of horror, thrillers, mysteries, science fiction, and dark humor, though his many novels, novellas, and short stories tend to blur the boundaries between these genres. From his award-winning first horror/mystery novel, What Hides Within, to his widely applauded police procedural/supernatural thriller, Seeing Evil, Jason’s work has won him praise from both critics and fans of diverse genres alike. His work has been compared to that of some of his personal favorite authors, such as Chuck Palahniuk, Jack Ketchum, Tess Gerritsen, and Joe Hill.
Jason grew up near Fall River, Massachusetts, the setting for several of his novels. He has lived in New England most his life, currently residing in Rhode Island.
Praise for What Hides Within
“There are enough twists in this book to keep you guessing up until–and even after–the very end. The action is virtually non-stop, and the scenes laced with dark-humor give the story some comic relief, without letting up on the intensity of the overall novel. This is one tale that will keep you on your toes all throughout–particularly if you suffer from Arachnophobia . . .” – Horror After Dark on What Hides Within
“I thoroughly enjoyed What Hides Within. The book is terrifying in the most fundamental way. I twitched and squirmed my way through each page. There were several intertwining stories going on at the same time, and it was a lot of fun to ride the papery wave to the final climax.” – Pop Horror What Hides Within
“With a strong cast of supporting characters, including a young niece called Victoria who is mature beyond her years, What Hides Within is a multi—layered novel that works because it is so well and convincingly written. In my review of his short story collection Wrathbone and Other Stories, I described the author as being ‘a weaver of complex, macabre tales’. What Hides Within provides further evidence of Jason Parent’s supreme talent for doing precisely that.” – Catherine Cavendish, Author of Waking the Ancients, on What Hides Within
“What Hides Within is a well-crafted tale of psychological terror with shades of a Lovecraftian hard-boiled crime story. Great stuff.” – Into the Macabre on What Hides Within
“Jason Parent masterfully lays on layer after layer of intricate storytelling, weaving a masterful web and an entertaining tale. A tenacious page-turner which only requires the reader to check their disbelief at the door and enjoy. I found What Hides Within to be clever, at times comedic, and at times very dark.” – Frank Michael Errington on What Hides Within
Praise for Jason Parent
“Jason Parent has done it again! He has created a brilliant story that will grip you tight and won’t let go! I found myself turning page after page to see what happens next. From start to finish, this book is mind blowing!” – Cedar Hollow Horror Reviews on A Life Removed
“Wonderfully original tales of horror… Wrathbone and Other Stories gets my highest recommendation.” – Cemetery Dance
“From the eerie opening tale to the grisly closer, and all of the wonderfully mean-spirited tales in-between, Wrathbone is a winner!” – Jeff Strand, author of Dead Clown Barbecue
